We know HVAC problems can be stressful and confusing. This section answers the most common questions we get about heating and air conditioning service, repairs, and what to expect when you call us.
No cold air with the thermostat on means either the system is low on refrigerant or there is something wrong with the AC unit itself and would need servicing. The thermostat itself could be faulty or the fan in the condenser could also be out. This requires a technician to diagnose.
This could be caused by a breaker being tripped or by the blower motor in the air handler not getting the signal to kick on, the blower motor being bad, or a faulty safety switch. This normally requires diagnoses from a technician.
This normally means you are low on refrigerant, Although it's not always the case most of the time you would need a top off or it would require the technician to do a leak check in your refrigeration lines.
If air is coming out but it's not warm you might have a bad heating element or fuse (electric furnace) a bad igniter, gas valve, pilot light, or safety switch (gas furnace), or a multitude of other parts that may have failed in the heating system. This usually will require a qualified technician to evaluate and troubleshoot.
This could be as simple as a breaker or a bit more complicated like a blower motor, safety switch, or a faulty thermostat that isn't sending the que for heat. This would require a technician for repair or diagnosis.
A non working thermostat could be as simple as new batteries or as confusing as a bad transformer in your air handler not sending the required voltage to power said thermostat. Although a quick fix is more desirable sometimes this issue is deeper than surface level.
